PRIORITIES GET DONE

We all have to-do lists.

Some of us have larger to-do lists than others.

Many of us are paralyzed by them. We look at that long list of items and we're stricken with the feeling that everything needs to be completed at once. Until they are, we'll be filled with anxiety about them.

Let me hit you with some reality.

Very few—if any—items on your to-do list are priorities. If they were, you'd get them done.

True priorities get done.

If you're not getting something done because you're comfortable on the couch, well guess what: being comfortable on the couch is your priority. Whether or not you care to admit that to yourself, your actions are telling you—if you're willing to listen—that being comfortable on the couch is a priority for you.

This says nothing about how you feel about your priorities. How you feel is immaterial.

Priorities get done.

So next time you're beating yourself up about not getting things done on your to-do list, remember that you're successfully completing your priorities!

Priorities get done.

Now, might it be beneficial to spend a few minutes each week identifying what you'd like your priorities to be?

Don't pass judgment on them. Just list a handful of things that would make you feel good if they got done this week.

This is not an exercise in perfection. This is an exercise in prioritization. Nothing more.

Priorities get done.

What doesn't get done isn't a priority—no matter what you feel about it or what you think it says about you. That doesn't matter.

Priorities get done.

What priorities can you list in your approach to the markets each day or week? What items that you control, that you can take action on, would move the needle toward your goals?

What priorities can you list that would keep your finances in order—actionable items within your control each day or week that would move you toward financial freedom?

What priorities can you list that would make your home and family life easier, more complete, more fulfilling?

Take the time each week to list these items and meditate on them.

Transformation happens slowly. But this priority hack, when implemented faithfully, will truly transform how you carry yourself in this world.

Small steps. Big results.

Try it.
