Death Around Each Corner

There is an ever-growing list of companies competing for our increasingly fragmented attention.

One of my favorite hip-hop songs of all time is Tupac’s Death Around the Corner. It’s about constant vigilance in a hostile environment.

He isn’t just talking about literal death. He’s talking about pressure, manipulation, and forces circling waiting for a moment of inattention.

You see this dynamic play out all the time in markets, especially with new product and fund launches.

Are they really trying to help you?

Or are they capitalizing on the fact that an asset is already up 150%, knowing that now it’s finally on your radar and their launch is what makes them money?

This exact scenario played out again this week.

Binance launched silver futures.

They could have done this years ago. Instead, they waited until after the big move had already happened and eyeballs were all over it.

It reminds me of when the now-defunct exchange FTX launched U.S. dollar index futures in 2022, almost perfectly coinciding with the peak. The DXY hasn’t come close to those levels in the years since.

Every market has threats around the corner.

But in crypto, it’s amplified. The opportunity is real, and because everyone knows it, opportunism is everywhere.
