The Thud That Marks a Bottom

This week, I’ve been saying Ethereum has finally bottomed.

To show you why, let me take you inside the casino, where three players sit at the table:

  1. Leveraged Larry
  2. Clever Carl
  3. Sideline Sam

Larry is first through the doors. He’s brash, reckless, convinced Ethereum will make him rich. He doesn’t just buy, he takes out a loan from the casino to play.

If Ethereum shoots up, he’s set for life. But if it drops, even a little, he risks losing everything.

Larry doesn’t care. He’s all in. And he’s not alone. His friends crowd around the table, each one playing the same game. They’re chasing the same dream, borrowing money they don’t have to buy more Ethereum than they can afford. If the price falls, they all go down together.

Across the room sits Clever Carl. He’s the opposite of Larry, measured, patient, calculating. He also believes Ethereum’s headed higher, but he wants in at a better price. And he knows just how to get it.

So Carl lays the trap. On a quiet Sunday, he starts selling Ethereum into the market. The price dips. Larry grins. “Discount!” he says, and doubles down with even more borrowed money. His friends follow suit.

The pressure builds.

Then, a dull thud from the far corner. Larry looks over and sees one of his friends being shoved away from the table, his chips scattering across the floor. The house has pushed him out of the casino.

Larry smirks, brushes it off. “Unlucky,” he mutters, and leans back over his own pile.

But then, another thud. Louder this time. Another friend sent packing, his stack swept off the table and dumped back into play, knocking the price lower.

Now the rhythm quickens.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

One after another, Larry’s friends are forced out. Each time their chips hit the floor, the room grows louder, more chaotic, the price of Ethereum sinking deeper with every crash.

Larry’s jaw tightens. Sweat beads on his forehead. Still, instead of pulling back, he presses harder. More leverage. More risk.

And then comes the heaviest thud of all, Larry’s own. His mountain of chips collapses in a heap on the floor as he’s shoved out of the casino. The biggest forced sale yet.

Carl smiles. The plan worked. Larry and his friends have been flushed out. And Carl steps forward to scoop up all the Ethereum he wanted, at a bargain.

Meanwhile, Sideline Sam has been watching from the doorway, pale and uncertain. “Is this really the casino for me?” he wonders.

Shaken by the chaos, he leaves.

Weeks later, the smoke clears. Carl, calm as ever, sips a drink at the bar, profits locked in.

Sam creeps back in, reassured the worst is over. This time, he plays. He calls in his friends. A crowd rushes the tables, and the price of Ethereum surges higher.

Carl doesn’t need to move. He’s already in.

He just sits back, reserved, counting his winnings.

Larry and his friends have already been shoved out of the casino this week.

The only decision left is ours: do we sit with Carl at the table, or walk away with Sam into the night?
